The children were jumping for joy for Sport Relief 2018
In preparation for the Robin Hood Marathon, Richard Whitehead came into our school to talk to us about his sporting career and help us train for Sunday’s run.
‘Richard Whitehead is a Paralympic gold medalist. His greatest gift from God was to run. He has taken part and won in the London 2012 Paralympic 200m run and many marathons. He visits schools to coach others and inspire children to aim high. He tells people to never give up and that you are never too young (or old) to try your best! I have shown resilience when I was trying to do cartwheels. The first time I tried, I fell but I didn’t give up and now I am amazing at them. Also when I was practicing to read. I couldn’t and didn’t give up but now I can read.’
It was very exciting having Notts TV in school! 4E would like to say a big thank you to Mr Fiddes for organising the event with his team and for giving us this opportunity!

Special guest visitor John ‘Hoop Guy’ Parnell joined us for our KS2 Health Week fresh from Britain’s Got Talent. A sneak preview of the premier of the soon to be released ‘Hoop Guy’ song before an hour per class of tricks, skills and performing. Another brilliant day
KS2 Health Week kicked off with beautiful sunny weather. Plenty of action with Korfball Kathy and friends down at the field. Our wonderful tennis Coach, Rob Briggs, from West Bridgford tennis club was very impressed with our future tennis stars. And the high-energy and exciting game of Capture the Flag was provided by Premier Sports. There was even time for a bit of girls’ cricket. Not bad for Day 1! Day 2 features Dan the Skipping Man, Hoop Guy (of Britain’s Got Talent fame) , Premier Sports and more girls’ cricket
The SEC girls put in another battling performance to defeat Radcliffe 2-0 in the County Cup Semi Final.
Having only narrowly beaten them in the Rushcliffe Cup it was sure to be a close encounter.
2 first half goals proved to be the difference.
A final against West Bridgford Juniors awaits and a chance to make amends for penalty heartbreak in the final of the Rushcliffe Autumn 6 aside.
You can do it girls!
One final game to sign off in style!
Venue: Burton Joyce. Date: To be confirmed.
The Basketball team is run by Miss Chipperfield and two previous students who attended SEC – Coach S and Coach C. It is great fun and a fantastic opportunity to build on skills and play other schools in Nottingham. The match days are organised by none other than Jimmy ‘Jumpshot’ Smith!

2C enjoying their PE session with Mr Smith. Nothing like a spot of fitness first thing in the morning after a long weekend!
Another sporting performance, another success. This time the SEC girls were in action in the Rushcliffe Cup, away at Radcliffe Juniors. Honours even with the slope in the first half with Radcliffe fancying their chance on the restart. A terrific battling and attacking performance from the Campion girls saw it finish goalless at full time. With a raft of year 5s queuing up for their debut and Mr Tuckwell already late for the nursery run, penalties were decided upon. Captain Clark lost the toss and it was Campion to take first. Clark slotted powerfully before Setchfield saved the first Radcliffe effort. Felicello then blasted an unstoppable effort into the roof of the net (ignoring all comments to hit it low and into the corner…) Setchfield was then the hero saving the second Radcliffe kick and sending the Campion girls ecstatically into the next round. Anything the boys can do…
3 experienced heads and 6 keen Year 5 debutants proved that the Campion (and Holy Spirit) football production line is in good hands. a thoroughly entertaining 1-1 draw was played out to warm the spectators in the gathering gloom. Well done to all and thanks once again for transport.
Well done to both Year 6 hockey teams who qualified for the Rushcliffe Finals last night. Not only lots of goals but most importantly, as always, a glowing report on impeccable manners and being proud to wear the SEC badge. A huge thank you to the parents who made it possible #family #community
